Looking for advice about online dating .. How do you know if a person is who they claim to be?
I visited two dating websites, chatted with a few, has been proposed by a priest, two guys asked if they could borrow money, and noted one in particular whose profile, messages and emails screenplay sound as if they copied from somewhere else, used on someone else's comments and contradicts earlier. A guy gave me a phone number to call to what I did, but then he would not talk, and prefers an instant message, once he got home. I would be interested to know if other women have experienced this, and some tips to find out if these guys are for real. I met one that sounds great but is it too good to be true? Thanks for your feedback.
I think it depends on the dating service you are using. Eharmony is going to work a little better than say Yahoo Personals or match.com. Try using a dating service that checks that is people. I Eharmony for a while, but even there they are facing problems. People use photos 2-3 years old when they were 30 pounds lighter and more attractive and you can always say what they want on their profile. I would say do your research. Once you reach the stage of communication of an online game you can always find on MySpace or Facebook, or even just Google and you will be amazed with what can come up with. If you decide to go on a first date or meeting with them, make sure the unit separately, tell a friend where you are you can take one out and also choose a place that is very public so if you decide you need freedom bail, you can w / o making too much of a scene.
